I have so many fun memories of Mom. The first time I met her was on her way back to Germany and was sitting in the break room at STL tower. I don’t know what I was expecting but it was not this little petite woman that was dressed to the “T”. She was always sharp! Hair, make-up, clothes, jewerly, everything! Needless to say her humor, she was so funny to me. The first time she came to my house I had these dollar store plastic flowers in my kitchen window. Uta said, “Oh, those are nice”. I said, “why thank you, they are plastic’, (thinking she was complimenting my decor), and she said, “Yeah, I know”. Sooo, I no longer have plastic flowers in my house, well she did allow me to keep one that didn’t look so fake. Then the time I was going to spend Thanksgiving alone and she was not having it! I was giving her all these excuses for not coming over and she just said, “We are waiting dinner for you I will see you shortly and hung up on me. I had one of the best Thanksgivings ever! Mom, thank you for being my friend, you are greatly missed! With Love, Rachel
My first memories of mom Uta was in August of 1984. We first met while Jackie and I were moving in to a dorm at KU. Complete stangers but not for long. We still talk about our moms and us going to eat Chinese. She was such a funny lady and never made you feel anything but comfortable. The only time I felt a little uncomfortable was when Uta and Jackie would speak German to one another. I later found out that was the way they argued. Funny. I remember their home in KC. It was small but it was amazing. Filled with unique, very nice things. She took pride in her appearance and her home. There were always fresh flowers around. She was always cooking something up for us or we were going out to eat at these neat little places. Tonys on the Blvd in KC was the highlight for my family. A small restraunt with a large atmosphere. She thought the world of Jackie and wanted nothing but for her to be happy. They had a great friendship, as I did with my mom. I cherished our relationship and always looked forward to visits with her. I still regret not taking Jackie up on that trip to Germany. That would have been amazing! Our time was too short but our memories are forever. Rhonda
