William “Bill” Getzschman

On Thursday, March 26th Bill Getzschman, a superhero disguised as a quiet, mild-mannered reporter, left the scene of informal Principia pick-up basketball games, Creve Coeur tennis matches, and Kirkwood’s Senior Circuit Softball League for his next great adventure, part of Love’s great adventure to be all-in-all.

He treasured his many happy days with those hardy volunteers at The Museum of Transport, the crafty writers for The Towne Crier newspaper, the dedicated members of the Christian Science Church in Kirkwood, the ladies book club, and those who followed his occasional editorials for the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

He always risked all for his three perfect boys and grandkids, his wife of 43 years, plus his larger family of dear friends including a valued extended family in Omaha and Boise.

We will miss his presence ferociously, but we all wish him Godspeed. We have so much good to relish that speaks of his industry, grace, and gentle humor all around us.

We’re grateful to all who smiled on his life.

With love and gratitude,

Susie, Jonathan, Robin, Dave, Rob, and Kate Getzschman
