Albert “Al” Anthony Leeman, Sr. (12/30/1940)
Died peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2017 at home. Al was the beloved husband of Barbara Leeman (nee Kayser) married August 16th, 1958, father to Chris (Bob) Hawthorne, Deb (John) Mauer, Angie (Roy) Neal, and the late Albert Anthony Leeman, Jr. Al was Grandfather to Dana (Kevin), Cody (Paddy), Steven, Katie, Joey, and Carly. He was great-grandfather to Raegan & Landon Fuwell, who he adored and Baby Hawthorne due September 2017. And special friend, Patty Gipson.
Al was preceded in death by his father Bert Leeman and his mother Rosemary (nee Esposito) Leeman. Al was probably the biggest momma’s boy you would ever meet. She was known to wash his hair until the day he got married. He is survived by his brother Harold Leeman and sister Joyce (nee Leeman) Scaggs.
He is survived by many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Al was an auto mechanic who retired from Union Electric. He loved his job and the people he worked with for many years. He was an avid golfer until he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1990. He loved working on old Chevrolets and was a former member of the Chevrolet Club of Missouri. His favorite past time was playing poker with his brother, sister, and cousin Frank Cardinale. They would cheat, lie, and steal from each other over dime.
Please join our family for a celebration of Al’s life Friday, April 7, 2017, 4-9 p.m., at the Woodson Terrace Community Center, 9351 Guthrie, St. Louis, MO 63134.
The Leeman family request flowers not be delivered to the community center. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Albert’s name to a charity of your choice.

    I am very sorry for your loss. I remember many a family party at Harold and Mary’s where all of you were there. “Uncle” Al was a hoot. He has left many a fond memory for all of you to visit in this time of sadness.

    We are so sorry for your loss, we will definitely miss seeing him on our walks. Our dogs looked for him daily to stop and give him love.
