
Alyce Jean Chappell
February 16th, 1935 – March 13th, 2026
Alyce Jean Chappell (née Reinig), 91, passed away peacefully on March 13th, 2026 surrounded by her family in Barnhart, MO.
Alyce was born in Omaha, NE to Peter and Nina (née Johnson) Reinig on February 16th, 1935. She graduated from South High In Omaha.
She married George Joseph Chappell on November 20th, 1954, in Omaha, NE. They were married 37 years.
Alyce was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She had unique strength to get through the extremely tough times of her life and great faith in her Lord. She was an avid bridge player and loved playing any and all card games. She was a skilled seamstress and excelled in smocking dresses. She created many beautiful hand quilted quilts for family, friends and charities.
Alyce is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Richard and David Reinig and sister Judy Wages, her first husband George, children, Joseph George, Lynn Anne and Carolyn Jean Ayers and second husband Roy Absher.
Alyce is survived by her children: Stephen (Sherry) Chappell, Geoff (Dawn Phillips) Chappell, and Anne Barnes, grandchildren Lesley Kruse, Nicole (Seth) Jennings, Lauren Barnes, Katherine (Cameron) Javier, Caleb Chappell, Megan Barnes, and Chandler Chappell. Alyce had six great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews and steadfast friends.
Memorials may be given to St Jude Children’s Hospital or Wounded Warriors Project.
The family of Alyce wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Mercy Health Jefferson County Hospice and her wonderful team of private care nurses.

A private memorial will be held in Oklahoma City, OK.
