Amelia “Marie” Fitzgerald

Amelia “Marie” Fitzgerald (Hickinbotham) 4/29/31-7/19/17 Her work here on Earth finally finished, a good and faithful servant has departed for her Higher calling. Freed from the limitations of a time-worn body and the lost memories of Alzheimer’s disease, to return to the people and places gone-by, that she has known and loved. We have grieved the gradual losses, and taken comfort in her indomitable good-spirit, zest for life, and love for all. Her passions were her home and family, tending the homestead on Smiley Road, gardening & “putting up” the harvest, flowers of every kind, quilting & sewing, china painting, volunteering, swimming at “the creek” and later, spending time at the river cabin, which she called “A little bit ‘o Heaven.” She is preceeded in death by her husband, Raymond Thomas Fitzgerald, Jr. “Junie”, her siblings Francis Souders, Bernice Hamby, Nelly King, Floyd “Gene” Hickinbotham, and Harry Hickinbotham. She is survived by her siblings, Lawrence Hickinbotham and Betty Spencer, many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces & nephews, cousins, in-laws & dear friends. She never met a stranger. She also leaves 2 children, son, Robert “Bob” Fitzgerald (Jill) and daughter, Rita Pruitt, 5 grandchildren, Christina Schultz (Andy), Daniel Fitzgerald (Emily), Amanda Pruitt, Erin Pruitt, TJ Pruitt, and 8 great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Madison & Odin, Ray & Gage, Anthony, William & Madelyn….to carry on her beautiful legacy. Her family has chosen cremation, with her final resting place at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery near her husband Ray. In lieu of a funeral, we are planning a Celebration of Life event at a later date, so that her numerous friends and family members can join together in remembrance of a beautiful life, fully lived!
