Ann Smith
Ann lived a life defined by warmth, curiosity, generosity, and grace. She shared 65 loving years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dixi—a partnership marked by deep affection, shared adventures, and steadfast companionship. Together, they enjoyed many beautiful bicycle trips over the years, journeys filled with meeting new faces, laughter, exploration, and the simple joy of being side by side in new places. She also loved going on their extended vacations to Hawaii, for twenty years, it was her favorite place to enjoy and watch for turtles and whales.
She was deeply devoted to her family and a wonderful mother. Ann was the glue that held her children together—the communicator and steady heart of the family—always making sure everyone stayed connected, informed, and cared for. Ann was so very proud of her children and often told Dixi they were their most prized accomplishments.
Ann was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and worked as a medical technologist in St. Charles, MO at Booneslick Medical Group, and later at Missouri Cancer Care. Through her work and volunteer efforts, she formed deep and meaningful connections that lasted a lifetime. She was generous with her support of schools, the Repertory Theater, her church, her PEO chapter, and always her grandchildren.
She embraced life fully and had a deep appreciation for the arts. Some of her favorite places included the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Saint Louis Zoo, the Saint Louis Art Museum, Powell Symphony Hall, and The Fox Theatre. She relaxed with friends and family by playing cards, reading a good book, chit-chatting around a puzzle and enjoying any televised sports game.
Her life was well lived, and her presence brought comfort and light to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the love she gave, the lessons she taught, and the countless memories shared by family and friends.
Ann is survived by her loving husband, Dixi; her children, Fred (Shari) Smith, Steven (Shannon) Smith, William Smith, and Sarah (Christien) Mollin; her grandchildren, Katie Smith, Nicole Smith, Cody Smith, Max Smith, Zane Smith, Sydney Mollin, and Levi Mollin; her great-grandchild, Adelina Smith; her brother, John Patterson; Her Sister in Law, Dixie (Frank) Patterson and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Fred Patterson, and by her brother, Frank Patterson, whom she loved dearly.
