Anna Madden, age 87, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, following a long journey with dementia.

Born on March 2, 1939, in Fallagherin, Omagh, County Tyrone, Ireland, Anna was one of 13 children born to the late Mary Ann and Neil Francis Mullin. She attended St. Brigid’s Primary School and Loreto Convent Grammar School before completing nursing school in Belfast and England.

In 1962, Anna married the love of her life, Martin Joseph Madden, in England during a double wedding with her brother Neilly and his bride, Susan. The following year, Anna and Martin set sail for New York aboard the SS Queen Elizabeth to join her emigrant sisters. After a brief return to Ireland to live in Martin’s hometown of Galway, they settled in Yonkers, New York, where they raised their three children and successfully operated Madden Autobody, Inc., in Scarsdale.

Anna had a passion for nursing and an vibrant energy for life. A devout parishioner of the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart in Yonkers, she was also a longtime member of The Amackassin Club, where she spent countless happy hours playing tennis with close friends. In retirement, she took up golf and traveled frequently to visit her growing family. She was an active member of the American Irish Association of Westchester and considered serving as an Aide to the Grand Marshal for the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Parade in 2000 one of her greatest honors.

Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Martin Joseph; her parents; and her siblings Brenda, Kathleen (Neary), John, Peter, and Neilly Mullin.

She is survived by her devoted children: Brenda (Jeff) Kimberlin, Kevin (Jaclyn) Madden, and Joseph Madden; her cherished grandchildren: Mairead, Claire, Riley, Colin, and Sean; and her dear siblings: Peggy, Mary, Ethna, Mickey, Joe, Charlie, and Hughie, along with a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends across the U.S. and abroad.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and residents at Pine Valley Assisted Living and Woodlands of Arnold(opens in new tab), as well as the nurses and support team at Alternative Hospice, for their compassionate care.

A memorial mass celebrating Anna’s life will be held at a later date in Yonkers, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Monastery Church of the Sacred Heart, the Capuchin Franciscans of the Province of St. Mary, or Sacred Heart Grade School in Yonkers, NY.
