Arthur Edwin Whitney Jr.
Arthur was called to heaven on January 17, 2024 at the age of 85.
He was born to Arthur and Alva (nee Rodgers) Whitney and is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William.
Arthur lived to ski and did so up until the age of 83. He also loved gardening and bicycling.
He is survived by family and his many friends.
There will be a private service at Sunset Cemetery on January 25, 2024.
We met Art through the McDonnell Douglas ski club over 45 years ago. We went on many ski trips together as well as bike rides throughout the St. Louis area. Art was a fantastic skier and was usually the first one down a ski run. He was also a gracious host, often having people stay at his second home in Steamboat Springs, CO. We also enjoyed Art’s company at many ski club and other social activities, where we can still hear him say “Chablis for thee, the Rhine is mine” or something to that effect. He will be missed, but not forgotten.
