Sue (Arvilla) Schibler
Arvilla (Sue) Schibler née Brune, resident of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the age of 94 (two weeks shy of her 95th birthday). She was a loving wife, amazing mother and role model…so humble, giving, and kind.
Now that Sue has passed into the arms of our Lord, her physical life on earth is over but it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her as she joins her parents (Oscar and Arvilla Brune), only sister (Wilma Spirk), son (Pete Schibler), granddaughter (Crissy Hensen), and great granddaughter (Emelia Eakins) in heaven.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ken Schibler. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, raising six children: Carol (Dan) Skillman, Peter (Stella) Schibler, Bonnie (Stan) Wagner, Ken (Mary) Schibler, Bea (TJ) Wilmering, and Margie (Steve) Deutschmann.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tom (Christine) Skillman, Joe (Christen) Skillman, Fr. David Skillman, Angie Skillman, Brian (Marion) Skillman, Lorie (Tyson) Gadell, Tanure Wagner, Ben Wagner, Derek Schibler, Brian (Ale) Schibler, Rachel Schibler, Jason Schibler, Kyle Schibler, David Wilmering, Jennifer Wilmering (Jeff) Reyes, Justin (Natalie) Deutschmann, Nicole Deutschmann, Jessie Deutschmann and 15 great grandchildren.
Sue, with her strong faith in God, worshiped at Our Lady of Sorrows (OLS) Catholic Church in St. Louis, Missouri, for over 70 years. She taught religious education at OLS and volunteered at St. Agatha’s Food Pantry for many years. She was a very generous woman who integrated giving back to others by tending to the daily needs of many neighbors…always putting everyone else before herself.
A celebration of life Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church (5020 Rhodes Ave, St. Louis, MO 63109) on Monday, December 23, 2024 at 11:00am. A luncheon will follow.
Sue and Ken dedicated much of their retired lives volunteering at St. Agatha’s Food Pantry run by the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, 204 North Main St, O’Fallon, MO 63366.
Rest in peace, Sue! Deepest Sympathy to Ken and all your children and grand children.
