Audrey Tankins

AUDREY MARIE TANKINS, 64, of Saint Louis, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019. Born February 4, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Archie B. Tankins and Erlene Anthony Tankins-Parks. Audrey was educated from elementary through high school in the St. Louis Public School District. In her youth, she enjoyed reading books of all genres, drawing, and exploring.

In her adult years, she spent several years as a member of the Cass Catholic Worker Community on the near North Side of the City of St. Louis. She worked with the population of the St. Louis, men, women, and children who found themselves in need of safe shelter. Moreover, she worked as an administrative assistant for Lauritsen and Associates LLC, a property management company, as well as with Three Men and An Old Lady lawn service. Later, Audrey worked as a dispatcher for Hi Tech Security Company before retiring in 2012.

For the last decade, Audrey was the full-time caregiver for Tommy Askew, her long-time companion of 38 years. She cared for Tommie who’d become bedridden the last few years and her loving care knew no bounds.

Audrey had three children: daughter, Crystal Richardson- Tankins; sons, Nodric Tankins and Jefferey Williams. Crystal was the mother of Audrey’s four grandchildren: Glenn Hinkle, Arrael Richardson, Endya Richardson, and Corey Richardson Jr. She was also the great-grandmother of De’Mari Worthy. Her sons, Nodric and Jeffrey served as care givers for both their mother and sister over the years who both suffered from chronic health conditions.

Audrey was preceded in death by: her mother, Erlene Anthony Tankins-Parks; father, Archie B. Tankins (MaryAnn Tankins); sister, Vickie Tankins; brothers, Cedric Tankins and Tommy Parks; daughter, Crystal Richardson-Tankins; and life partner, Tommy Askew.

Audrey leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Nodric Tankins (Erica) and Jeffrey Williams; grandchildren, Glenn Hinkle, Arrael Richardson, Endya Richardson, and Corey Richardson Jr.; great-grandchild, De’Mari Worthy; sisters, Donna Tankins, Sharron Stallings, and Kelly Parks; brother, Eric Tankins; aunt, Elaine Thompson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
