Augustus F. Allen Jr. of St. Louis, son of Bessie (Scott) and Augustus “Gus” Sr. completed his earthly journey on January 16, 2017.

Known to all as Fred, he lived in St. Louis his entire life, but would venture to other parts of the world after graduation from Sumner High School in 1947. Along with the life-long friends he met in the high school band, Fred joined the Army Reserves and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1949, continuing to play saxophone in the 315th Army Band. Fred served until his honorable discharged in 1952 from Army Aviation Systems Command; he then worked as a Logistics Management Specialist, until his retirement in January 1986.

Fred was preceded by his parents; his sister Nancy E. and husband, James E. Richardson Jr., and is survived by his sister Marilyn Allen (Dallas, TX), and leaves to remember him nieces Rhonda Richardson, Karen (William H.) Matthews, nephew James Richardson III (Sherry G.), great-nephew Will and great-nieces Tanner and Hannah, and a host of cousins and friends.
