Barbara Jean (Terrell) Atkisson, 79, of Festus passed away September 12, 2016, at Community Manor Nursing Home in Farmington, Missouri. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who spent the majority of her time as a homemaker. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on June 28, 1949 and served as a faithful member of the Festus congregation until her death. In addition to sharing the Bible’s message of hope, she enjoyed painting, as well as making porcelain dolls and ceramic crafts. Barbara was an avid gardener who loved tending, then canning and freezing the fruits of her labor and grew a variety of flowers in her greenhouse. She was born January 15, 1937 in Carbondale, CO, the daughter of the late Harold and Genevieve Terrell.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Atkisson of Festus, sons Randall (Tamara) Atkisson of Little Rock, AR; Joel Atkisson of Houston, TX; daughter Anitra (Nathan) Cooley of Festus; seven grandchildren Thomas (Allison) Atkisson, Jeffrey (Kaylen) Atkisson, Brianna Howell, Allista Atkisson, Kaia Atkisson, Ian Howell, and Cole Atkisson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia Ann Terrell. A memorial service was held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Festus
