Barbara “Barb” Louise Lauria

Barbara “Barb” Louise Lauria, of St. Louis, MO was born September 19, 1939, in St. Louis, MO, to the Late Allen L.  and Grace E. Gerhardt.  She passed away on April 25, 2022, at the age of 82.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Allen and David; and two sisters, Nancy Ritter and Diane Kirchoff.  

Barb is survived by her husband of nearly 58 years, Jasper (Babe), son Glenn, of St. Louis, MO; and Daughter Kathleen (Curtis) Dismore,  of High Ridge, MO.  She was beloved Meemaw to Allison, John, and Samantha. She was a loving aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and close friend to many.

Barb chose a career in Education and was particularly passionate about early childhood education.  She started her  career as an elementary school teacher.  After her children were born, “Miss Barb” as she was famously known for over 30 years, was Director and teacher of Christ United Presbyterian Preschool for over 30 years. Later,  she became a kindergarten teacher at Meadows Elementary School in the Riverview Gardens School District where she worked until she retired.

Barb was a very loving and giving person, even in death,  her wish was to donate her body to science.  She was the Matriarch of the family.  Known for her great wit and a warm, welcoming smile, she loved spending time with family.  Barb was active with numerous friend groups up until the time of her death.  Barb spread kindness, love, and happiness to those she touched along the way.  She will be greatly missed by many.

Memorial Visitation at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3130 Parkwood Lane, Maryland Heights, MO 63043, Wednesday, May 4, visitation at 10AM until the memorial service at 11AM.

    The best neighbors ever! Barb was selfless and like a mother to us all. Loves her family dearly and has always been quite exemplary. We will keep Jasper close as the two of you have always done for us. Much love, Mary Casey

    Jasper, Kathy and Glenn and all those beautiful grandkids – I am so very sorry. Barb (my cousin) was a joy and a light to all. I will miss her so much, but know that she is with us still, smiling that great welcoming smile. ❤️
