Barbara Jean (Foust) Darby, passed away at the age of 84, on Saturday, May 28, 2022, in Chesterfield, MO. She was born to Erwin and Ruth (Mitchell) Foust on April 22, 1938, in St. James, MO. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Robert Darby Jr. and by her brothers, Erwin (” Junior”), Bobby, James and sister, Betty. Upon delivering her, her father nicknamed her Peach. A name that would follow her for the rest of her life.
Barbara was a devoted mother to her surviving son, John (Marcy) Darby III; her daughter, Denise (Chuck) Smith; doting grandmother to Jessica and Clayton Smith and great-grandmother to Renae and Selina Smith.
She was a country girl at heart living in a big city. A smile ever present on her face. Family was especially important to Barb. Making snow ice cream one of her specialties. She worked various jobs including telephone operator, cashier, and her favorite, in her best friend’s photography studio.
Barbara was a highly active member in her church where she had many friends. She held positions on numerous committees and volunteer groups.
You never had to ask Barbara what she was thinking, because she would beat you to it. She always spoke her mind. She loved to travel with her husband and special friends having visited sites from the artic circle to Padre Island and many points in between.
A memorial service at New Covenant United Methodist Church in St. Louis on July 9th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Covenant United Methodist Church, 900 Bellerive Blvd., St. louis, MO 63111.
