Bernard Joseph Struckman

Bernard Joseph Struckman (Joe) passed away peacefully Sunday, January 18, 2026. He is survived by his children Patricia (Tim Taylor) Bailey, Tracey (Ted) Stanton, Thomas (Kellie Mack), and Christina McDaniel.  Grandchildren Jessica, Natalie (Brandon Edgar), LeAnn (Jon Blankenship), David (Ally), Sean, Tommy, Tatiana (Alex Schilling), Kristina (AJ McKenzie), Michael, Elizabeth, and Joseph. Great- grandchildren, Lindsey Blankenship, Atticus Zang, and Julia Edgar.  Joe was a dear father, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend to many, including Carol Tonnsen, mother of his children. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Sandy, parents Bernard W and Theresa, siblings Theresa Rose and Edward Struckman.

Joe spent his career as a Mechanic, proud Union Member of Local 513, mainly working as a Diesel Mechanic from tractor trailers to concrete mixers. Although
he did not graduate high school, he earned several mechanical certificates throughout his career.

Joe was born and raised in St. Louis City and moved to the county after his children were born. We spent most of our childhood playing in the fields at Berkeley Khory League. As his children grew and had families-Joe loved being a grandpa! Halloween was always a favorite night to see who could fill their bag first. Pinewood Derby’s were also another favorite activity.

Joe moved to Bonne Terre, MO in 1993 and enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing BINGO & dominoes and hosting BBQ’s for his family. Joe and
Sandy loved spending time traveling to different places. Branson was their go to. Joe will be greatly missed, but his memories left here with us will be cherished forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on February 7, 2026 at Dulany’s from 1-3:30.

I didn’t get to spend much time with my Godfather after childhood, but I’ll always remember the laughter and good times we had with my family. One moment I’ll never forget is being at my dad’s store and getting into harmless trouble—like shoving spray paint cans inside the mannequins and blowing them up. He will be missed and remembered with love.
