Betty Hendel
Betty G. Hendel (née Rice) passed away on October 6, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 83.
Betty dedicated her life to education and healthcare, earning two master’s degrees—one in Education and another in Nursing. Her professional journey was marked by compassion and commitment as she worked passionately as a neonatal practitioner, caring for premature infants until her retirement.
In recent years, Betty faced significant health challenges due to arthritis in her hips and back, which caused her considerable pain and limited her mobility. She now rests peacefully, free from discomfort.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl; her brother, Glen; and her sister, Beverly. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Steven and Kent (Penny); grandchildren Sean and Megan; and great-grandchildren Emma, Chase, Kylie, Karter, Kennedy, Karson, and Isabella.
A memorial service to honor Betty’s life will be held on October 25, 2025, at St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Arthritis Foundation.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
Betty indeed was a special person. I had the pleasure of going to a St. Louis Cardinal game with her and her son, Steven. We laughed, enjoyed each other’s company, and had a great time.
She even came to see me when I had knee surgery. May you rest in peace Betty.
My heartfelt condolences and prayers for your family Betty.
