Betty Jean Servia

BETTY SERVIA (1927-2013)
Dear Betty, my world and all those who knew you, feel deeply touched and saddened by your departure and transition to your current being. Your spirit and your undeniable will, were and are both commendable and unstoppable. Songs such as “I did it my way” or “You can go your own way”, applied to you more than any human I have ever met. When I traveled, coast to coast, friends would ask “what is your Mother like?”. I came up with a pat answer: I would say “have you ever seen the “I Love Lucy Show?”. Then I would say “my Mom was Lucy!”.
FOR THE RECORD: Betty passed peacefully, in her bed. There was suffering, but not like the pain I saw my Father go through. She was determined to be at home. Again doing it, having it, being it, she did it her way. Betty loved her daughters Nikki, Lisa and the lone son, myself, as well as Grand children James Whitacre, Andrew Whitacre and Isabella Rose Servia. And lastly Betty loved her little best friend Kara Top the Chihuahua, who grieves deeply for her master.
THE MEMORIAL: There will be a memorial tribute to Betty. She deserves and would love a Bettybration or a Bettyboopbration. This will be at a dear friend’s (Donnie Gearhart) home (crazyclose, nearby to Betty’s buddy Wanda K.’s house) which we refer to as the C.C.C. (The Crestwood Country Club) on August 15th, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm. Please feel free to bring a swimsuit, (there is a private dressing room) and enjoy the amenities of the C.C.C.. I can’t emphasize this enough. After all it is a Bettybration!

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: We provide three options which we believe that Betty would have enthusiastically approved:
* The National Alzheimer’s Charity
* A random gesture of kindness to a family member, a friend or a stranger.
*Giving careful consideration to making the ultimate gift of donating your body to St. Louis University or Washington University Medical Schools, to potentially help advance knowledge of the medical arts, which in turn may help many other families, and all human beings.
This may have been Betty’s greatest gift, of many, many great and generous things that Betty did for family, friends and strangers. Our family will get feedback within twelve months to a detriment affecting living longer and healthier, from a condition that has throttled my Mother and three of her siblings.
God Bless You Betty. and God Bless all of you as well as my Daughter, my family, my friends, myself and everybody on this planet.
Good Day!

    We are so sorry about Betty. She was always so happy and had a big smile on her face when you saw her. I know she suffered from that horrible disease that is affecting so many of our loved ones these day. She will be missed by many people who knew her and loved her.

    Betty’s family in Arkansas will miss her but we all have such wonderful memories of good times. Bett lived her life to the fullest and she loved her family dearly. We are going to miss her spunk and wit and look forward to us all being together some day. Oh what a family reunion that will be. So sorry we can’t make the memorial but family illness will keep us away. Much love to all.
    Pete

    Wonderfully done obit for a wonderful woman. I didn’t know Betty that many years but I loved her smile and her spirit and enthusiasm for life! Hoping your fond memories of her will ease the pain of your loss.
