Betty Jean Petersen

Loving mother of Kelly S. Petersen and preceded in death by her daughter Valerie C. Bradshaw (Petersen). Loving mother-in-law of Robert J. Bradshaw, M.D.; loving grandmother of Benton, Emily, Eric (Kana Bradshaw), Kate Bradshaw-Burnley (Ed Burnley), Julia (Zachary), and Colin Bradshaw; loving great-grandmother of Wesley G. Burnley; loving wife of the late Martin Petersen; loving sister of Clinton and Burt Dudley; dear aunt and friend to all.

Betty was an elementary school teacher at Parkway School District, the Catholic Archdiocese, and St. Louis County Special School District. Betty also worked as a Librarian for St. Louis County Library for many years. Betty graduated from Webster University with a degree in education and Missouri Baptist University with an M.A.C. in school Counseling. Betty loved gardening and quilting and had a special love for her pets; Mindy, Connie, and Taffy, and also her family’s pets; Sophie, Friday, Taylor, and Bogey. The family would like to thank Mercy and St. Luke’s Hospice for such wonderful care. Love and gratitude is extended to Karen Mueller for taking care of Mindy during Betty’s illness.

Service: Memorial Mass Friday June 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Ascension Catholic Church, 230 Santa Maria Dr., Chesterfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Humane Society of St. Louis.
