Betty Jo Harris

She was born on January 2, 1945

She was Osco and Hattie’s little girl.

She graduated from Hadley/Vashon high school.

She got her degrees from St. Francis and Fontbonne.

She was a radiology tech, the first black one in Missouri.

She was a model, a model instructor and fashionista.

She was a hair stylist, a makeup artist and wedding planner.

She was a teacher and a youth motivator.

She was a wife, a friend, a sister, a fighter and a survivor.

 

Silly, funny, trash talking, loud and brash; would talk to anyone, laugh at anytime, give of herself for any reason.

 

Wise, sharp and smart, she was a good woman and a real lady and a broad. And proud of them all. To those of us who knew her, she was

Services: Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 12-4pm at St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63103.

    To Virgil and Bettye’s family:
    You have our heartfelt sympathy in the homegoing of your beloved Bettye. To know her was to love her. She is the one who gave me the nickname “Dodie.” She was one of a kind and will be missed.
