“Bill” William McKinley York

Bill went home to be with Jesus on July 30, 2012 at the age of 84.

Dear husband of Dolores (“Dee”); beloved father of Ron (Judy), Bill (Gerilyn) and Jim (Donna) York; stepfather of Allan (Libby), Kevin (Diana), Shawn (Lori) and Kris Dougherty and Lisa Stamulis; grandfather of 22 and great-grandfather of 7.

Bill was a proud veteran of the Navy and Coast Guard Auxillary, a self-employed businessman and a devout Christian who served the church as a board chairman, deacon, elder and usher. He loved to make things and was a skilled artisan and craftsman, working in wood and paint and all sorts of mediums. In his early years he was an avid boater and a frequent golfer. The family would like to thank the staff at Delmar Gardens on the Green for the loving care Bill received during the last 6 years.

Services: A celbration of Bill’s life featuring pictures and memorabilia, and Bill’s carvings, art and scrimshaw with refreshments and snacks will be held on Thursday evening, Aug. 9th from 5-8:30 pm with a more formal funeral service on the morning of Friday, Aug. 10th at 10:30am, both to be held at at First Evangelical Free Church, 1375 Carman Rd., Manchester 63021. A Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery burial service with full military honors will follow the church service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Delmar Gardens on the Green Employee Gift Fund, 15197 Clayton Rd., Ballwin MO 63011 or to Pathways Community Hospice, 14805 N. Outer Rd.
