Blanchie Maria White
Blanchie Maria (nee Conner) White was born on July 26, 1956 at her home in Tupelo, Mississippi, daughter of Ulish Gray and Rebecca Conner. Her mother Rebecca survives her, but her father preceded her in death.
Maria, as she loved to be called, was raised in Tupelo by her grandmother, the Reverend Blanche Watson, who preceded her in death. She attended and graduated school there. While in school, she excelled in sports, particularly basketball, baseball and track. After leaving Mississippi, she settled in Michigan, where she worked as a caregiver while attending cosmetology school.
On Friday, October 13, 1978, while on the way to comfort her ailing grandmother, she met her future husband of 37 years – Curtis J. White, whom she leaves to wait for a Heavenly reunion. No children were born from this union.
Maria was a member of the Tri-Union AME Church under Rev. Rodney Moody, Pastor, and she worked tirelessly for the good of the Church and the glory of God. She also held several positions at the church during her membership there.
Blanchie departed this life quietly at her home on November 21, 2015. Her nephew Korey “Auntee Man” Manuel was the last person to hear her speak, and those words were of love.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother – Rebecca, her sisters – Gwynetta and Barbara, her brothers – William, Reginald and Carey, as well as an extended family and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Her brother Leslie preceded her in death.
A Viewing and Ceremony will be held for her at St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave., St. Louis MO 63103 on Saturday, November 28, 2015 from noon to 4:00 pm.
