“Bo” Oliver Locke Hagan, Jr.
Passed away peacefully on September 29, 2013 at age 73 at NHC of Town & Country after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Bo was born in Meadeville, Pennsylvania on January 12, 1940 to his adoring parents, the late “Lou” Lula and Oliver Locke Hagan, Sr.
He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Hagan of Miromar Lakes, Florida; his 3 loving children – Kelly (Darren) Elliott, Shannon (Dan) Carroll and Meredith (Tim) O’Keefe; and his 5 dear grandkids – Conor & Taylor Elliott, Addison & Danny Carroll and Quinn O’Keefe. He was preceded in death by his brother-the late John Hagan in 1985. Bo had the honor of being a mentor and friend to many.
Bo attended college on a football scholarship at Baldwin-Wallace where he studied business before leaving to start his own company – Microscientific- that he ran for 13 years. After closing Microscientific, he returned to school at Baylor and earned his Masters in Economics. He worked on his doctorate at Webster University. He started his career as a professor at Baylor University before moving on to hold a chair in Entrepreneurship at Baldwin-Wallace College. He then moved on to become the Dean of Business at Lindenwood University and there he taught in the LCIE program. In recent years he was an adjunct professor at the Flo Valley branch of St. Louis Community College, Fontbonne University and Harris-Stowe State College. Mr. Hagan was a lifelong member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity and Sertoma International. He was also proud to be an active member at the Trinity Episcopal Church of St. Charles. In his free time, Bo enjoyed gardening. He was always interested in international affairs and had a breadth of knowledge about the world that was memorable. He also enjoyed being involved in the lives of the many foreign exchange students that he met during his tenure at Lindenwood. He and his wife Mary always welcomed them into their own home and looked out for their well-being as if they were part of the family. Bo and Mary had many homes before settling in the St. Louis area, including Columbus, Ohio and Berea (a suburb of Cleveland), Ohio. They spent some time Madison, New Jersey when Bo was studying with the United Nations. They also lived for a a time in 3 different cities in Texas – Waco, Katy (a suburb in Houston), and Dallas.
Services: A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5th, 2013 at 11:30am at Trinity Episcopal Church, 318 S. Duchesne Drive, St. Charles MO 63301. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research, Attn: Dr. Virginia Buckles, 4488 Forest Park Blvd. Ste. 101, St. Louis MO 63108.
Mary also would like to offer her appreciation and special thanks to Bob and Genise Kiehl, who sat with Bo, prayed with him, and supported both Bo and Mary from the beginning of Bo’s illness and lasting even beyond his passing.
