Bonnie Gazaway Gunther
October 05, 1959 – May 23, 2018
Bonnie Gunther, 58, of St. Louis died Wednesday May 23, 2018 at Evelyn’s House after a year-long battle with cancer.
Born October 05, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was an Administrative Assistant in the financial industry for 17 years before returning to school to receive an Associates of Applied Science in the art of Pharmacy Technician. Unfortunately her time as a Pharmacy Technician was cut short due to a diagnosis of Stage IIIB epithelial ovarian cancer.
While undergoing chemotherapy Bonnie became quite the cruciverbalis, enjoyed volunteering in the Ronald McDonald House Family Room at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, spending time with her family, her cat Mickey, and exploring the St. Louis Public Library.
Survivors include her daughter Lauren Gunther of St. Louis, sister Marsha Lindsey (Jan) of O’ Fallon, cousin Vicki Arnold (Val) of Lake St. Louis, and nephew, Scott Lindsey (Adrienne), and grand niece Mari of Tucson, Arizona.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Woodrow and Nadine Gazaway
Special Thanks to the staff at Evelyn’s House, BJC Hospice Care, the Nurse-Medical Oncology and Palliative Care at Missouri Baptist, Dr. Elbendary and staff, and the St Louis Peregrine Society.
How much I love you I can’t say:
It’s more than words can hold.
You’re all at once my rich, red clay,
My potter and my mold.
Yours the words that shaped my voice,
The spirit within mine.
Yours the will that shaped my choice,
My fortune, and my sign.
How lucky I was to have had you
At the core of me!
Wise and good, you always knew
Just what I could be.
And so I came to be someone
Whom I could be proud of.
For this I give my swollen sum
Of gratitude and love.
-Nicholas Gordon
