Brian Stieglitz

Brian Stieglitz was born in Oak Park, Illinois, and moved to St. Louis when he was three. He was always a curious boy, enthusiastic about life, had too many interests to name, and loved to learn. He knew no strangers and could charm both young and old. Brian was a great friend and had a generous spirit. He loved to indulge people with his gifts, be they a story he wrote, a picture he painted, something he baked, or flowers. He lived big, and brought joy to many. Brian learned to love nature during his adolescence and developed a penchant for long hikes and primitive camping. The 65-mile hike at Philmont Scout Ranch last summer was a testament to his determination, leadership, and teamwork. A voracious reader, there was nothing that Brian could not discuss. He was a deep thinker, called common assumptions into question, and was a master at bantering. He had a great sense of humor, was witty, and appreciative of our differences and unique qualities as people. Fun loving and irreverent, he conveyed his genuine respect in unconventional ways. Brian was abundantly loved and supported by his significant other, friends, and family. He was one of a kind; a shining star who touched many, many people. May his light shine on through all of us.
