Bruce A. Mollick

1956 – 2024

Bruce Mollick, 68, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away peacefully at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis on August 25, 2024. Bruce was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend. Known for his generosity and tireless work ethic, he was always ready to lend a hand.

Born April 7, 1956, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Charles “Joe” and Julia Marie (Swanson) Mollick, Bruce grew up working on the family farm and at Joe’s Bargain Barn. He graduated from Queen City High School in 1974, and his career included roles at Pierce’s Phillips 66, Mitchell’s Used Cars, where he traveled around the country with a drag racing team, and Correll Tires. He co-owned Joe’s Carpet Barn with his brother Robert for 14 years before working at Lovegreens Auto and later at Kraft Foods, retiring in 2018. Throughout his life, Bruce also owned and managed the Missouri Century Farm, a family legacy since 1888.

Bruce married Debbie VanDusen on May 7, 1976, at Good Shepherd Church in Greentop, MO. Together they welcomed two daughters to the world. Firstborn, Julie Ann, and Lindsey Beth followed 10 years later.  Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Julia Mollick; siblings Robert (Jolene) Mollick, Margie Tippett, and Julian (Patty) Mollick; and nephew Chad Tippett. He is survived by his wife Debbie, daughters Julie (Coley) Hanes of Lancaster, MO and Lindsey (Kyle) Hoskinson of Kirksville, MO, grandchildren Jace and Jolea Hanes, Evey and Lochlan Hoskinson, brother-in-law John Tippett, and several nieces and nephews.

Ol’ Brucie was an avid outdoorsman—he spent countless hours fishing, hunting deer, and turkey. If there was fresh snow on the ground, he was itching to go hunt coyotes with his buddies. Bruce was passionate about volunteering for the Greentop Fire Association—totaling over 40 years. He enjoyed attending sprint car races, but especially camping out with friends to attend 360 Sprint Car Nationals. He was known for his unmistakable mustache and infectious laugh. A jokester at heart, Bruce loved to get a rise out of people, followed by a wink and a smile. His absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.

In accordance with Bruce’s wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4-7 P.M. at Greentop City Park. Please dress comfortably as Bruce would have wanted. A private graveside service will follow at a later date. Memorial donations in his honor can be made to the Greentop Fire Association, PO Box 2, Greentop, Missouri, 63546.

As I read your comments I thought to myself, you described him perfectly! Going to school with Bruce was a delight. He always acknowledged you with his smile and a quick witted remark. He was a caring human we all could learn from. Bruce will be missed, and there will always be a void in our hearts. Love and miss you always my friend and schoolmate. Heaven has gained a good one!!! 🥲😇❤️
