Carl H. Scheidemantel

On Saturday, 08/08/2020, Carl H. Scheidemantel, loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at his home in St. Charles, Mo. at the age of 99. Carl was born in Lenox, MO on May 30, 1921.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Edith Pickering, Raymon Scheidemantel, and Robert Scheidemantel, and former wives, Rita Alt Scheidemantel and Billie Dean Vandivort (mother of Jim and Steve).
Carl is survived by his two sons, Jim Scheidemantel (and wife, Beth) and Steve Scheidemantel, and two step-children, Randall Alt (and wife, Carla Alt-Jones), and Stacy Alt Wiedman (and husband, Todd). Carl enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jessica Buen, Chase Buen, Lauren Luster (and husband, Matt), Lennon Luster, Louisa Wagner (and husband, Fred), Elijah Bennett, Madison Bennett, Cheyenne Wagner, Derek Scheidemantel (and wife, Leanna), Jack Scheidemantel, Lucas Scheidemantel, Julie Rodebush, Kelly Rodebush, and Stephanie Wiedman.
Carl served in WWII from 1940 – 1945 as an U.S. Army Air Corps MSGT Instructor. He was in Sales most of his career, with the nickname of ‘Carl Mantel’, and was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Carl was very active in the community, serving for 48 years as a member and President of the St. Ann’s Lions Club, which supports visual and hearing disabilities. He volunteered for over 13 years in Military Services at the USO- St. Louis Lambert Airport. Carl will be missed for his wisdom, advice, undying support, and most of all, for his kindness. He had a remarkable way of listening, sensing other’s feelings, and making everyone he met feel special.
