Carlan “Bruce” McClain

November 5, 1941 – June 16, 2025

Carlan “Bruce” McClain, lovingly known simply as “Bruce” to all who knew him, he was born on November 5, 1941, in Austin, Minnesota. He passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of music, laughter, and love.

Bruce was an outgoing, fun-loving, and affectionate man, known for his passion for playing guitar and his deep love of music. He often described himself as a man who loved “music, guitars, fast cars, and adventure.” He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed telling jokes, and never met a stranger unless they chose to be one. His gruff delivery was matched only by his warm heart. Bruce adored animals—especially his dogs—and often professed his love for the Lord.

He is survived by his two daughters, Valorie McClain-Johnson of Wisconsin and Carlene (Jay) Feco of Missouri; his daughter-in-law, Tracey McClain of Missouri; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Mike (Abbey) McClain of Florida; sisters-in-law, Carrie McClain of Georgia and Judy McClain of Florida; his brother-in-law, Mike Gutman of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his son, Billy Bruce McClain, and daughter, Raycal Lynn Burright; his parents, Ross and Dollie (Griggs) McClain; his brothers, Ron McClain, Johnie McClain, and Stanley McClain; his sister, Louise “Annett” Gutman; and sister-in-law, Bonnie McClain.

Bruce often reminded loved ones, “Don’t cry for me when I leave this world, because I am going with a satisfied mind.” His vibrant spirit and cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Aaron Wright for the care and companionship he provided to Bruce over the past seven years. Special thanks also go to Phoenix Hospice for their comfort and support during Bruce’s final days.

He will be dearly missed.

There will be no formal service, but perhaps a celebration of life at a later date.

Did Dollie sell either Stanley or Amway products? I can remember my grandfather had a party in his barn and a Dollie McClain demonstrated either Stanley or Amway
