Carol Coutinho Elmer
Carol Coutinho Elmer, age 87, died peacefully on September 28, beloved wife of the late Curtis Elmer. She is leaving behind her two children James Elmer and Christine Rombaut, her former daughter-in-law, Lana Meyer, and her four grandchildren, Nicholas, Marissa, Caroline and David.
After graduating from the High School for Music and Art in New York City where she met her husband Curt, Carol attended Radcliff University where she graduated with a degree in International Relations .
She and Curt were married for over 60 years until his death in 2010. They were entirely devoted to each other and shared their many interests throughout their lives.
Carol was a wonderful mother, encouraging her children to explore their interests and passions and instilling in them the love of music and the arts, sailing and traveling. She was a dear and loving grandmother as well. There was no greater pleasure for her than spending time with her family.
Carol had many passions, most notably her love of music. She was known as a remarkably talented pianist, which she continued to enjoy and practice far into her 80’s. She loved sailing, which she and Curt engaged in for over 40 years. Carol was also a very fine bridge player, as well as a bird watcher for many years. Carol was also well known for her love of cooking and her superb cooking skills. One of her most favorite pastimes was traveling with Curt, not only all over the United States but Europe as well.
A private celebration of her life will be held.
