Carolyn Murphy

Carolyn Murphy, (nee Burger) of Waterloo, IL formerly of St. Louis, MO. Baptized into the Hope of Christ’s Resurrection on November 4, 2024 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late John A. Murphy. Daughter of the late Edward A. Burger and Anna M. Burger (Wunsch). She is survived by her very special children, Maurie & Joe Plassmeyer and Curt & Chris Miller. Sister, Sister-in-Law, Aunt, Great Aunt, Great-Great Aunt, cousin and a multitude of friends that count as family.

Carolyn was born on April 28, 1941 in South St. Louis, MO, to Edward A. Burger and Anna M. Burger (Wunsch), the youngest of six children, Rosemary (Geo) Scharpenburg, the late Edward W. Burger, Anna (Ray) Clinton, Dorothy (Jerome) Hershkowitz, and LaVerne (Bill) Harlow.

She graduated from McKinley High School in June of 1959 where she met many of her lifelong friends and has remained a forever “Goldbug”. Carolyn married John in January of 1969, and they eventually moved to Waterloo, IL in 1994. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling including trips to Europe.

Carolyn will be celebrated with a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

    Carolyn had such a great sense of humor. Her love & dedication to family was special. May she rest in peace with her Beloved John and your legged children, and all who have preceded her.

    To my aunt carolyn you will ve deeply missed. Although apart for years now you were never out of mind and your updates thru my sister Judy novosad (murphy) were always highlights. Rest now be at peace your nephew Robert murphy.
