Carolyn Simpson

 

On January 4th, 2019 we lost our beloved Carolyn Martha (Gavett) (Svehla) Simpson, 95. She lived life to the fullest and departed just shy of her 96th birthday. Carolyn was born February 18, 1923 in Newport News, VA to parents (Martha) Luella (Stohler) Gavett and Victor Henry Gavett. Survived by her beloved sister Doris Marie (Ray-deceased) Horst Sr. and her children: JoAnn (Cork-deceased) Roschell, Kitty (Lloyd) Wenger and Ray (Mary) Horst Jr.

 

Her full career spanned from Virginia to Denver, CO to St. Louis, MO. She worked at Gates Rubber Co. and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in support of the USS Missouri. Her first husband Martin Luther Svehla (deceased), served on the USS Missouri. She was an Executive Secretary at both Anheuser-Busch, Inc. and Nooter Corporation where she met her second husband, “Eddie” Simpson. Carolyn and Eddie were married for 12 ½ years. Together they loved ballroom dancing, enjoyed cooking for big gatherings and following the St. Louis Cardinals. He preceded her, passing in 1995. Beloved Mother to Linda (Daniel) Martignon and Barbara J. Svehla Thomas. Survived by (Edward) “Eddie” Albert Simpson’s beloved children: Barbara (Walt) Sabourin, Jerry (Kathy) Simpson and Jan (Ray) Meibaum Sr. Beloved grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, Aunt, Great Aunt and Great-Great Aunt to her family and dear friend to many.

We shall all miss you greatly and will cherish you forever in our hearts.

We love you so very much.

Internment on Saturday, February 9th, 2019 at 12 Noon
