Carolyn Vasterling
Life long Cardinal fan, Carolyn “Kaye” Vasterling (nee Nunn), born May 19 1934, passed away on February 2. 2014 after losing her battle with cancer at the age of 79 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Ray Vasterling, beloved mother of Susan Kaye, Carolyn Gail and the late Patricia Rae Vasterling and beloved Grandmother of Sara Patricia Asmus, Donald Andrew Asmus and Joshua Harrison Jay. Our fondest memories will remain of her hiking to the tops of Macchu Picchu, the Eiffel Tower and the Acropolis and we hope to continue to emulate her sense of adventure as a tribute to her life.
In lieu of funeral services, the family will be hosting an open house in celebration of her life on Sunday February 9th from 1-4 PM at her residence. The family asks that all donations be sent to St Louis Area Food Bank or the Humane Society of Missouri in her honor.
Kaye was one of my best friends during my teenage years, along with Bea Curran and Laura Lee Shaw. We had many good times together. Like most young friends we grew apart as we all married and had families, and I regret that. I am very sad to know that she had cancer but not surprised that she would put up a good fight. Please accept my very, very heartfelt sympathy.
