Catherine “Kay” Byczynski

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Catherine (Kay) Frances Byczynski at the age of
83. Surrounded by family, Kay passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in Lake St. Louis,
Missouri. Born to the late Leo and Mary Lazar, January 30, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan. Kay lived
a life rooted in love, faith, and devotion to her family and community.

Kay was the beloved wife of the late Dennis Byczynski. They were married for 57 years and
together they built a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, compassion, and
enduring values.

She was predeceased by: her sister Mary Lee Krochmalny and brother, Leon E Lazar. She is
survived by her children: Kelly Hicks (Byczynski), Robert (Bob) Byczynski, and Karen Hill
(Byczynski). Her family continued to grow with the addition of her son-in-law Bruce Hicks;
grandchildren Nick Hicks, Paige Hicks, Taylor Byczynski, Katie Hill, Joni
Byczynski (deceased) and great-granddaughter Sophie Ryan; Sisters Bernie Balose and Margie
Biglin. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Catherine cherished
each of them deeply and found immense joy in their lives.

A woman of strong Catholic faith, Kay was an active member of her church
community. She participated faithfully in the prayer blanket group—a reflection of her generous
spirit and desire to bring comfort to others through both prayer and action. Kay had a deep
appreciation for nature and found peace in gardening. Whether tending to flowers or simply
enjoying the outdoors, she embraced the beauty around her with gratitude. She also loved
being on the lake and boating with her beloved late husband. Above all else, she treasured time
spent with family and friends. Her home was often filled with warmth, laughter and
conversation—an open door for those she loved.

Those who knew Kay remember her as generous, sweet, and kind—a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence brought light into every room. We will
miss her each and every day! May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd
Catholic Church, 3740 Holtzclaw Road, Cumming, GA 30041
A Memorial Service will also be held in Lake St. Louis, MO later this
summer to celebrate the life of Kay with family and friends.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I did not know Kay for very long but what I did know is that she was a kind, loving and beautiful woman. She was a wonderful Grandma and Great Grandma to Katie and Sophie! I’m sure she is celebrating in heaven meeting Jesus and seeing her wonderful husband Dennis again. My love, heart and prayers go out to you all until you are together again🙏❤️

Kay and Dennis were wonderful neighbors of ours for 20 years in Mashburn Landing in Cumming, GA. They were a great example of true and dedicated love and faith. We hated to see them move but will never forget the special memories we all shared. It warms my heart to know that Kay and Dennis are now reunited in Heaven❤️
