Celia Doris Cupp, a woman of deep faith and devotion to her family, passed away peacefully in St. Louis on January 7, 2026, at the age of 87.
A Life of Service and Family
Born on December 11, 1938, in Atlanta, Missouri, Celia was the daughter of the late Robert and Birdie Baker. She spent her professional life in service to others, notably serving as the church secretary at Compton Heights Baptist Church and later as an administrative assistant for the Christian Board of Publications. Her career was a reflection of her steady, helpful nature and her commitment to her faith community.
Celia’s greatest joy was her family. She was a pillar of strength and a source of love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness and grace will live on through the many lives she touched.
Family
Celia was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Harland Morrell Cupp; her daughter, Christina Lynn Schlaikjer; and her son-in-law, Michael Joseph Schlaikjer. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Donald, Charles, Robert, and Linda Baker.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by:
Daughter: Laura Ann (Tim) Esposito.
Grandchildren: Nicole (Paul) Donnelly, Lindsay Blatz, Caitlin Blatz, Hollistyn (Lance) Palm, and Justin (Nubia) Schlaikjer.
Great-Grandchildren: Ava Donnelly, Lily Donnelly, Gabrielle Burghartd, and Liam Schlaikjer.
Siblings: Roger (Melinda) Baker, Edward (Sandy) Baker, David (Barb) Baker, Ruth Baker, Kathy McGuire, and Kay Baker.

A celebration of Celia’s life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at:
SunRise Church 7116 Twin Chimneys Blvd. O’Fallon, MO 63368
Visitation: Doors open at 10:00 AM
Service: 11:00 AM
Reception: A lunch will follow the service at the church.
