Charles Powell

Charles D (Chick) Powell, 89, of OFallon, MO, died December 9 at Mount Carmel Senior Living. He was born in 1928 in Columbia, MO, the son of Vera (Livesay) and Dwight Carlton Powell. He attended Robert E Lee elementary school where lifelong friendships were formed. These friends referred to each other as the Lee School Boys throughout their lives. These boys were later very involved in activities at Columbias David H. Hickman High School graduating in 1946; they were all quite proud to be Hickman High Kewpies. He then graduated from the University of Missouri school of Agricultural Engineering in 1951. Charles was a dedicated husband. He married Linda Powell whom he met in college, and they were married 41 years until her death. He was then married 22 years to Robilee Powell until her death in 2016. He began working in Ag construction while living in St. Louis and Kansas City. This work opened the door to a move to Monmouth, IL in 1967 and to a career change in 1970 into the fiber glass boat industry where he worked until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church and a member of Kiwanis. He loved to travel and to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his two wives, Charles was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Harvey Glenn Powell, and two sisters, Irma Roney and Naoma Powell. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ed Bochenek. He is survived by his children, Alison (Dave) Levine, Brad (Kelly) Powell, and Sue Bochenek. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dustin Levine, Holly (Mike) Schumaker, Lindsey (Eric) Plant, and Ian (Jennifer) Bochenek, along with several great grandchildren, cousins, 2 nieces, and a nephew. A private graveside service will be held December 29 in Pelham, GA. Friends and family members are invited to A Celebration of Life service which will be held Feb. 3 at 11:30am at Prasino in St. Charles, MO.
