Cheryl Elaine Moore

Cheryl Elaine Moore (Gray), 74, of Saint Louis, passed away on Sunday, July 25th. Born March 6th, 1947 in Salem, Missouri to William Herschel and Geraldine Marie Gray, Elaine was the youngest of five children.

In January of 1965, she married her longtime sweetheart, Joe Moore. Together, they had four daughters: Claire Ellen, Carrie Cathlene, Cynthia Jane, and Christen Gray. They were married 55 years.

Elaine is survived by her four daughters, seven grandchildren (Jacob, Clay, LaRita, Carson, Harper, Grayson, and Caris), a great-grandchild (Logan), her brother William Gray II, sister Wilda Jane Scheidemantel, and a large community of family and friends. Elaine is preceded in passing by her husband Joe and her sisters Winifred Gwendolyn and Glodine Delena.

Elaine loved music, old movies, family games, and Legos with her grandchildren. She was a prolific cook, inspired by the culinary spirit of her mother. She deeply cared for all animals, rescuing countless pets over her lifetime. In 2008, Joe and Elaine opened Sutton Street Studio for Hair in Maplewood where she would serve until her retirement some years later.

Family and friends can expect details about a memorial service to take place in Saint Louis on August 22nd, 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stray Rescue of Saint Louis in Elaine’s honor.
