Christopher “Rocky” Kamp

Christopher John Kamp “Rocky”105a

Born on July 10, 1961, passed away peacefully in his home on February 20, 2014.

Rocky was born in St. Louis, MO to Oscar (d.) and Doris Kamp. Along with his brother, Mike (Cheryl), and sister, Kathy, he grew up in South St. Louis City, attending Oak Hill Elementary and Cleveland High School. Rocky is survived by his wife, Shannon, son Matthew, step-son Eric Johnson, step-daughter Bailey Johnson, “bonus son”, Gerry Lauterwasser II and nephew, Jordan Fields.
Rocky worked in the manufacturing industry as a tool and die maker and maintenance mechanic for 20 years. He was an accomplished electrician, draftsman, carpenter, machinist, and general jack of all trades. Rocky then stayed home to take care of his grandchildren. He was a fantastic PawPaw to Trey Lauterwasser, Ian Johnson, Lily Johnson, Taylor Bleckler, and Jacob Sanders. An honorary PawPaw to little 103Jayden and just about any other child he had the pleasure to meet. A frequent visitor to Marvin Elementary, he was known throughout the halls by students and staff. A kind and generous soul, he would do just about anything for anyone. He looked big and mean, but he was the nicest guy you could ever know. Our hearts are heavy with his
loss.
Memorials can be made to a children’s charity/fund of your choosing.109

I am so sorry you and the kids have had to suffer such a loss. I know how BIG the space is left by his passing. He was the BEST PawPaw, husband, best friend. I know all your great memories and Rocky stories will bring you comfort. Such a fitting farewell for him. May time and those active kids see you through.

I am saddened to hear about Rocky’s passing. I used to work with him at the Shop N Save back when I was in high school. I was a friend of Matt’s but haven’t heard from him in some time now. I was looking online to try to find any contact information for Matt and I found this page. I’m sorry for your loss and I hope that Matt and his family are doing well even if the family is a little smaller these days.
