Cynthia Pillow (nee Proffer)

In Loving Memory of Cynthia Pillow

Cynthia Pillow (nee Proffer), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on 8/14/2024 at the age of 73.

Born on July 31, 1951 in Grand Rapids, MI, Cindy was a woman of exceptional warmth and creativity. Her talent as a seamstress was unparalleled, with every stitch she made reflecting her dedication and artistry. Whether it was crafting beautiful garments, adorning the church sanctuary, or lovingly creating gifts for those in need, her hands and heart were always at work.

Cindy was not only a gifted seamstress but also a devoted mother and grandmother. Her love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and her presence in their lives was a constant source of joy and comfort. She took immense pride in their achievements and delighted in every moment spent with them.

Cindy was a devoted member of her church community. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was actively involved in Lafayette Park United Methodist Church in St. Louis, MO, where for over 68 years, she found joy in serving others and building lasting relationships. Her church family was a significant part of her life, and her spirit of kindness and generosity touched many within the congregation.

As a lifetime friend, Cindy was steadfast and true, offering support, kindness, and laughter to all who knew her. Her friendships were treasured, and her compassionate spirit touched many lives.

She is survived by children Jason Pillow and Heather Pillow (Hrvoje Palada), her sister Deborah Proffer, brother Paul Proffer, her grandchildren Wyatt Pillow, Yusuf Palada, Omar Palada, Hafsa Palada, Bee Palada and Augustus Pillow and a host of friends and family who will miss her dearly. Cindy was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Pillow, son Mark Pillow and her parents Barbara and Hodie Proffer.

A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held on 8/31/2024 @2pm. at Lafayette Park United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lafayette Park United Methodist Church in her honor.

Though Cindy is no longer with us, her legacy of love, creativity, and friendship will forever remain in our hearts.

I will miss my “honorary sister” and the many good times we shared. She accepted and welcomed me as one of the family, and I will always be grateful for that.

I went to and graduated from McKinley with Cindy. Met up with her again, five years ago at our 50th high school reunion and the McKinley luncheons. So happy was glad to spend time in reminisce with her. Prayers for her and your family
