Daniel Lee Dickman

Daniel Lee Dickman, age 72, passed away on January 19, 2026, surrounded by love.

Dan is survived by the love of his life, Joellyn (Russell); his daughter Kate Allen, son-in-law Peter Allen; and his cherished grandchildren Teddy, Piper, and Zoey Allen, who brought their Grumpy endless pride and happiness.

Dan was born in South St Louis to Bob and Terry (Stepka) Dickman, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended St. Anthony of Padua, St. Mary’s High School, Meramec Community College where he met many of his lifelong friends and his wife of nearly 50 years. He found joy in life’s purest things: dogs, babies, and college sports. He had a deep capacity for love, especially for his family.  He lived by the Golden Rule, and was a shining example of kindness, compassion, and generosity.

Enduring many health struggles throughout his life, Dan always maintained a positive attitude, and faced each challenge with strength, dignity, and a quiet resilience that inspired those around him. He met his greatest challenge in December of 2025, and though the cancer moved quickly he met it with strength and peace.

His family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the Washington University Kidney Transplant Team (and all of 16400), TRISL, and Evelyn’s House for the exceptional care and compassion they showed to the entire family during their darkest days.

Heartbroken survivors include Dan’s brothers David (Janet) DickmanBill (Carrie) Dickman, and John (Carol Ann) Dickman; his sisters Marilyn Dickman and Suzanne (Chris) Tidwell; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly and held close to his heart.

In lieu of gifts, please consider donations to Mo-Kan Border Collie Rescue or Evelyn’s House Foundation

Dan had a magnetic draw about him. I liked him from the second I met him, as a grade school friend of his daughter, Kate. He was one of the only parents I truly enjoyed being around. I always got a kick out of him, as a kids and as an adult. What a guy. He will be missed.

Prayers, hugs, and Heartfelt condolences to Jo, Katie, & family. We have so many great memories of Dan starting with the famous Witte family BBQ’s back in the early 90’s and the numerous PSCO company picnics, Christmas Parties, and other friends and family gatherings over the past 38+ years. Dan sure did fight many health battles over the years and always came out a winner. . We are sad that cancer swept in and took him away. He was loved by everyone and will always remain in our hearts. Take peace and comfort knowing he’s no longer in pain and we will meet him again beyond the skies.

    Love – Jeff & Stacy
