Darin Duane Doser

Darin Duane Doser, age 53, passed away on October 16, 2024, exactly as he would have preferred: with his children at his side, receiving compliments on his hair from the nurses.

Darin was born on March 12, 1972 to Donald and Beverly Doser, making him the little brother to Donaldgene Doser. Darin was the same as a little boy as he was a 50-year old man. He was ornery, curious, intelligent, loving, funny, and kind. There wasn’t a dad joke he hadn’t told (a few times), a question he couldn’t answer, or a handyman project he couldn’t build or fix.

In January 1993, Darin married Bobby Minchew, of Stringtown, Missouri. In 1998, the young couple welcomed their first child, giving her the female version of his name – Darian Delaney Doser. Darian was and always will be a daddy’s girl, laughing at every joke he made and hanging on every word he said, caring less about its accuracy and more that he had said it. Darin was her weatherman, sports reporter, and personal cheerleader.

Less than three years later, the family grew by one more. Darin’s son Wyatt Frederick Doser was born on June 6, 2001, six weeks premature, but a force from the moment he took his first breath. Wyatt has inherited his father’s looks and the impossible-to-ignore gravitas that makes everyone they meet look forward to the day they meet again. Darin was prouder of nothing more than his children, and looked forward to any opportunity to brag about them.

In his life, he worked as many things – a factory worker, a tire salesman, a truck driver. But always, to his core, Darin was a farmer. For most of his life, he provided for his family by waking up early and coming home late, working outside to grow America’s rice, corn, and soybeans. For years, his family ate supper after the sun had set, waiting for him to get home at eight, sometimes nine o’clock at night covered in dirt, oil, and more than likely, a food stain from his lunch. He loved the sun, the dirt, and heavy equipment. In fact, no one could drive anything with wheels (or without) better than Darin. He navigated the Current River in a boat with the same ease and capability as he drove an eighteen-wheeler through downtown Dallas, Texas.

Even more than he loved farming, Darin loved to not work. He would have always preferred to be sitting by the river, eating a great meal, or watching St. Louis Cardinals games. He loved to go to flea markets and collect signs, coins, anything he found interesting. If Bobby dreamt of a piece of furniture, Darin could build it to spec. In fact, Bobby dreamt of a house, and Darin and her father built a beautiful home that his family will always enjoy. Darin loved playing card games – Bullshit with his family, Texas Hold ‘Em with his friends. Regardless of the game he was playing, he won. A lot. While he would say it was skill, he was also always known to have a long term relationship with Lady Luck.

To so many that knew him, Darin was the life of the party. His giant smile, bright blue eyes, and magnetic charm made it impossible not to love him. He made friends everywhere he went – the Busch stadium ticket scalper whose number he would have for years to get last minute tickets, the random guy he met while working on Hurricane Katrina that would spot him on Main Street in Disney World. That guy would be ecstatic to see Darin, and they would catch up for ten minutes while his kids begged to go ride rollercoasters. Darin was special to everyone that met him, and no doubt that every memory of him that lives on will be that of him smiling and laughing.

A celebration of the widely loved life of Darin Doser will be held on November 2, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
