Darryl Alexander

Darryl Kenneth Alexander, born January 30th, 1967, passed away peacefully at his home in O’Fallon, Missouri on September 15th, 2021 at the age of 54. Although his life was cut short, he had lived it to the fullest. He loved spending time with family and making people laugh. He was quick with his comebacks and had a nickname for everyone and everything.

Darryl was a Merchant Mariner for 16 years where he traveled the world. He loved sharing stories about the places he visited and people he met.

Darryl is preceded in death by his father Kenneth Herman Alexander; mother Sandra DeLoyce Warman; Nephew Jason Strong; and Uncle William “Bud” Kneedler.

He is also survived by his three sisters Lori Strong, Leilani White, and Alexis Flores and their families.

Anyone who knew Darryl knew the love he had for his seven children, Sierra Paige Carlisle (Thomas Raymond Carlisle III), Jordyn Zachary Alexander (Kerri Anne Schuette), Brooke Danielle Alexander, Alyssa Erin Goldberg (Matthew Blake Goldberg) born to him from Suzanne Eileen Espinola and Madison Elizabeth Alexander, Carson Joseph Alexander, and Jake Mathew Alexander born to him from Susan Marie Alexander.

An active father, he enjoyed riding roller coasters all day at Six Flags and afternoons at the pool. He loved going to baseball games and took pride in watching his youngest play roller hockey. Darryl also enjoyed family dinners where he told “dad jokes” and would ask his eight grand-children if they would like a “knuckle sandwich.”

The last couple years of his life were spent with his love, Mary Gaither Reynolds. They made memories fishing, camping, and eating sushi together.

Darryl’s family will be holding a small, private celebration of life ceremony.

In Lieu of flowers, please consider donating to help with Darryl’s wish of sending underprivileged youth to a baseball game. Venmo @Darryl-Alexander-Memorial-Fund

I miss you, Pops. You were an amazing dad and I am so thankful for how hard you worked for us kids. I wish more than anything you’d call me up so I could listen to one of your jokes or stories one more time.
I feel like you were robbed of so many things you wanted to do. Jolene won’t remember you or get to hear your crazy stories and that hurts.
I told you that I needed a sign showing me you were ok, and you sure did…. I needed that. I know without a doubt you are with us kids. I feel lost and I just miss you.

Love and miss you Darryl. You and I always had a blast together and enjoyed joking and making each other laugh – especially once YouTube was out!

You worked hard, were so genuine, and welcomed me into your family for over 20 years with open arms from the first time we met.

I know you are smiling now in Heaven but continue to show us little signs to remind us you are also by our side in Spirit.
