David Beckmann

March 4, 1958 – May 27, 2026

David “Dave” Lain Beckmann, age 68, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026.

It is hard to put into words what David meant to so many. He was a caring son and brother, a loving father, a beloved grandfather, and a cherished friend. Whether he was traveling the globe, spending time with his grandkids, out on the golf green, or hanging out with friends—some of whom had been by his side since childhood—his joy and love were felt by everyone who crossed his path.

Born on March 4, 1958, in North St. Louis, David grew up in the Walnut Park neighborhood alongside his mother Norine, his father Bob, his brother Gary, and his sister Barbara. Growing up surrounded by extended family in the same neighborhood provided David with a strong, loving foundation that helped him build the life he wanted. In the 1970s, his family moved to Affton, and David went on to graduate from South County Technical School in 1976 with a certificate in Electrical Data Processing. In the early 1980s, he settled in the Dutchtown neighborhood, where he proudly raised his family and lived for the rest of his life.

Using his vocational training, David embarked on a successful 44-year career as a Pressman. Through hard work and dedication, he earned his status as a Journeyman and ultimately rose to Head Pressman, the highest position on a printing press. He took immense pride in his craftsmanship. Over the years, he was recognized with Supplier Excellence Awards for printing one of the world’s most recognizable labels: Jack Daniel’s. In fact, if you were to stand at a bar and look at the liquor bottles on the wall, David had printed about 80% of them. Going to the grocery store with David was like visiting an art museum; he loved showing off his work and meticulously checking out what other printers were producing.

David truly knew how to enjoy life. As much love as he put out into the world, it came back to him tenfold. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Dave was a great guy. We had the privilege of spending some holiday dinners with him. He joined our family Christmas gatherings for many years while we all lived in LA area. He was kind and funny at times. We all loved Dave. RIP
Our condolences. Connie and George Eckmann (Aunt and Uncle to Alison)

Flags are flying half staff for Dave Beckmann. I met Dave playing in our weekly golf league. I was one of the youngsters of the bunch and roomed with David on our golf outings while playing next to him for several rounds. He will be missed and I feel very fortunate that we have crossed paths. He is one heck of a guy who loved his family and I won’t forget all the laughs and drama we encountered on the golf course.
