David ‘Dave’ L. Stratmann

November 15, 1943 – January 24, 2024

David ‘Dave’ Leigh Stratmann left this physical earth on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at the age of 80
years old. Beloved husband of Lynne (Boesewetter) for 58 years. Loving father of Christina L. Stratmann and Craig D. (Paula Howard) Stratmann. Cherished grandfather affectionately called “Grumpy” to Andrew (Jessica) Stratmann, Nicholas (Beth Davey) Stratmann, and Justin Stratmann, and great-grandfather to Lucas and Mason Stratmann. Dear brother-in-law of Leah Reynolds, uncle, great-uncle, great-great uncle, cousin, and friend to many. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Dorothy (Roesch) and brother Arthur Stratmann.

Dave served in the United States Army Reserves (245 th Maint. Co) and retired in 1994 after 30 years. He held the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC) and was affectionately known by his troops as “Sarge”. When not using his weekends for the Reserves, he could be found camping with his family and a close circle of friends. Many antics occurred on these trips and have provided many, many memories that are still talked about to date.

Dave enjoyed building model cars during his teen years and won several trophies from Schaefer’s Hobby Shop which turned into a love for hot wheel cars and trains. Dave appeared quiet but was the original ‘bad dad jokes’ guy who had a great sense of humor which we are grateful he kept until his passing. His silent presence, humor, and easy-going nature will be missed along with him saying Grace before each meal. Private interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to join us for a Memorial Service at

St. Justin the Martyr Church,
11910 Eddie and Park Rd.,
Sunset Hills MO 63126 on Monday,
February 19th, 2024, at 1:00p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to St. Louis Shriner’s Hospital, Cardinal Glennon Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
