Dean Vegher

Dean Vegher, 59, of Staunton, IL, passed away peacefully at home with family & friends by his side, on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 8:35 AM after a courageous battle with brain cancer.  He was born April 17, 1965 in Litchfield, IL, the son of the late Leroy J. & Donna Jean (Honerkamp) Vegher.  He married Kimberly Bratten on June 27, 1998 & she survives.

Dean was employed as a Machinist for Olin Corporation, Cooper B-Line, & later at Ryder Trucking Company.  He was also a member of Staunton Masonic Lodge #177 AF & AM, attaining the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree. Dean is a life member of the Ainad Shriners of East St. Louis. He was also a member of the Elbon Shrine Club of Staunton, IL, & the Raban of the Hillbilly Clan #39.

Dean loved spending his time boating, camping, & skiing at Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield, IL.  He also enjoyed woodworking & hanging out in his garage.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years –  Kimberly Vegher;  four children –  Travis Dudley (Mckenzi Michell),  Jo Erin (Kelly) Birdsong,  Brittany Dudley,  &  Victoria Vegher (Reed Sprinkle);  three grandchildren –  Cameron,  Eleanor,  &  Hunter Birdsong;  multiple “Fur Babies”;  one sister –  Lee Ann (Charlie) Wiley;  & several nieces & nephews also survive.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister –  Lisa Callahan.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held from 11 AM to 3 PM on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the Staunton Masonic Lodge #177 AF & AM in Staunton, IL.  Masonic Services will begin at 2 PM.

Private Graveside Services will be held at a later date at Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton, IL.

Memorials are suggested to either Shriner’s Childrens’ Hospital in St. Louis, MO or to Staunton Masonic Lodge #177 AF & AM.
