Debbie Simon was my sister-in-law, friend and lung transplant surviver. This was such a shock to the family that she had an aneurysm and passed away so fast. We are all trying to process this loss to our family.

Debbie was a true fighter. When they told me that she was to have a lung transplant, I didn’t think she would make it through that process. But she came through with flying colors and surpassed everyones expectations. Before the surgery, she was on oxygen all the time. After the surgery she was so proud to tell everyone that her lung capacity was at 99% and that she didn’t have to be on oxygen was one of her best days. You should have seen her smile, it was beautiful.

Debbie will be missed by everyone she came in contact with, because they will remember her smile and her fight for her extended life after the transplant.

She is now gone but not forgotten. We all miss you and know that you are with other family members that have passed before her in a better place.

    Love you, Phyllis Waterhout

Debbie and I worked together at Shop n save. She was not only my friend, but someone i eventually could confide in. We would keep in touch even when I went back to school, and she’d always check in on me. She was a beautiful person with such a beautiful heart. She always made me smile even when I didn’t want to. I’m thankful I knew such an amazing person. She will be missed so very much. ?? My heart is with her family during this tough time.

Debbie was my best friend and her untimely death has left a huge hole in my heart. I will miss her smile and all the wonderful times we have shared together. Even when her health issues were so severe that she needed a double lung transplant, Debbie faced each and every day with courage and faith. She was so thrilled that she received healthy lungs from her wonderful donor and was able to totally get off oxygen! It meant the world to her and she dreamt of being able to thank her donor someday in person. Debbie had a heart of gold and lived for her kids and grandkids. She was the best friend anyone could ever ask for and I will never forget her!!
