Dennis Helms
Dennis Wayne Helms Jr., affectionately known to all as Denny, passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 54.
Born and raised in Festus, Missouri, Denny spent his adult life residing in St. Charles County, Missouri. In his youth, Denny was a highly talented musician, playing both the saxophone and piano. His passion for music led him to play in the marching bands at Festus High School and the University of Missouri (Mizzou). Outside of music, those early years were filled with a love for skateboarding and building ramps with close friends.
Denny went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Southwest Missouri State University. However, his career took a distinct turn when he joined the Air National Guard. The connections and skills he developed there ultimately guided him into cybersecurity. Denny proudly served for 20 years in the Air National Guard, retiring as a Major in Intelligence, and dedicated 22 years of outstanding service to Boeing as a cybersecurity professional.
Beyond his professional achievements, Denny had a deep passion for life and a wide array of hobbies. He cherished hunting with his daughter, Mackenzie, fishing, and riding four-wheelers at Cloud 9 in West Plains, Missouri. He also possessed a true gift in the kitchen—those who tasted his meals always remarked that he missed his calling as a chef.
Denny is survived by his beloved daughters, Mackenzie Helms (Hunter Osborne) and Livia Helms; his loving mother, Norma Helms; and his devoted sister, Amie Clark (Dave Clark). He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Wayne Helms Sr.
