Diana Shreve
Diana Shreve, a longtime resident of Troy noted for her unwavering devotion to family, her courage – she beat breast cancer twice – and her fiery passion for the St. Louis Cardinals, died Christmas day at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, with family by her side. She was 83.
Born on November 26, 1933 in St. Louis, Diana Sue Morris married her Soldan-Blewett High School sweetheart, Harold Lee Shreve, in 1953. They lived in Cahokia and Fairview Heights before moving to Troy.
Retired from the Keefe & DePauli law firm in Fairview Heights, where she was a legal secretary, Diana also worked tirelessly as a miniature hobbyist. Her elaborate Victorian houses and dioramas were constructed with scrupulous detail and – to her delight – featured in public exhibits and newspaper articles.
Diana is survived by her husband and best friend Harold, sister-in-law – whom she loved as a sister – Judy (Jim) Crase, daughters Holly (Garry) Gilbert and Tami (Greg) Schmidt, grandchildren Daniel Gilbert Strawser, Christina (Jeff) Pustulka, Jesse, Ali and Olivia Schmidt and Jackson Gilbert, and great-grandchildren, Ava and Luc Pustulka. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frieda Vance Morris Buscher, father Victor Morris, and stepfather Harold C. Buscher.
Diana, who was proud to be a card-carrying whole body donor to St. Louis University, asked that friends and family remember her with a party in lieu of a funeral. A memorial celebration will be held at Busch Stadium when baseball season – her favorite time of year – rolls around.
Memorials can be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America or St. Jude’s Hospital.
