Diane Carol Kates

Diane Carol Kates (Kimerle) passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, in St. Louis, with her daughters by her side. She was 64. Born on September 28, 1961, in St. Louis. Diane lived her life in the city she called home, surrounded by the people and memories that meant the most to her.

A graduate of Affton High School, Diane spent 20 years working for American Family Insurance. Her work reflected the steady, dependable nature that so many knew and appreciated in her. She carried herself with quiet strength and a caring spirit, and those qualities stayed with her throughout her life. Diane was the kind of person who made others feel welcome and cared for, whether she was at work, with family, or spending time with friends.

Diane was known for being kind, generous, and deeply devoted to her family. She grew up with her two older brothers, Dennis Kimerle and Patrick Kimerle, a part of her life that helped shape the person she became. Family was at the center of everything Diane did, and she found joy in the simple moments shared with the people she loved. She treasured time with her daughters, Rachel Padgitt and Becky Simpher, and took great pride in her five grandchildren, Haley Kruzewski, Mia Padgitt, Alyssa Simpher, Skye Arriaga, and Cody Simpher. Her love for them was steady and sincere, and it will remain a lasting part of her legacy.

Those who knew Diane will remember how much she enjoyed being with family and friends. She loved camping, floating, shopping, and cooking, and these pleasures brought warmth and connection to her life. Whether gathered around a meal or spending time outdoors, Diane found happiness in being together with the people she cared about. Her presence had a way of making ordinary days feel special.

Diane leaves behind a family who loved her dearly and will miss her always. Her life was one of care, loyalty, and devotion, and the impact of her kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best. She will be remembered not only for what she did, but for the gentle and loving way she lived.

A memorial service will be held on August 8, 2026 from 1-3pm at Arnold VFW, 2301 Church Rd, Arnold, MO 63010.

Diane was friend to everyone and treated everyone like family. Diane did not know a stranger and if you were a stranger you weren’t for long. She lived her life to the fullest and you never saw her without a smile. Diane, I am so going to miss you girl, especially when you would call me when you were cooking new recipe. I love you my dear friend!

Diane you were a very dedicated employee at American Family. You worked with everyone and helped anyone that needed help. I was around when you had both your girls. You were so excited and overjoyed. You raised them with so much love. And how you loved you grandchildren was the most joy in your life. Take your rest! Will miss the photos you sent me regarding the grandchildren.

I only knew Diane for a short period of time but she had a zest for life.. in the end, she seemed content and ready to go despite being fairly young. I’m praying for her family. She is missed.
