Diane Susan Brown

Diane Susan Brown

March 25, 1947 – August 6, 2024

Diane Susan Brown passed away peacefully at Mercy South in St. Louis, MO. She was surrounded by all of her children and her granddaughter, as they held her hands and spoke of their love for her.

Diane was born in St. Louis, MO. She was a graduate of Jennings High School and attended Florissant Community College. She was a mother of four and grandmother of six.

Diane was a tap, jazz, ballet, and ballroom dancer, entrepreneur, and dance instructor for nearly 40 years: she owned and operated Diane Brown Dance Academy, Dance Creations, and taught at Ray Park’s Dance Studio, U Can Dance Studio, and several local St. Louis civic and community centers. The dancing gene was passed down from her father, who was a ballroom dancer, and she passed it down to her daughters and granddaughter.

Diane had a wonderful sense of humor; she was easy to laugh and made others laugh. She loved animals of all kinds and had a love for watching and feeding wild songbirds.

Diane joins her mother, Mary Jane Deppe; father, Fred Deppe; her brother, Dennis Deppe, in heaven. She is survived by her children, Daniel Nelsen, Trish Schlote, Amy Brown, and Daryn Brown; her grandchildren, Amber Cooley, Alec, Sam, Nate, and Eric Schlote, and Lauren Nelsen.

A Celebration of Life will be held for close family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wild Bird Rehabilitation, 9624 Midland Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63114. (314) 426-6400

When Diane and I meet at Faith Church, we became fast friends. We had so much fun together at church and Florissant Senior activities. Diane especially enjoyed the lunch and bingo days. My prayers and sympathy to your family
