Donald Dorsey

Don Dorsey of St. Louis, MO passed away the evening of Monday, October 14, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Don was known for his quick wit and love of country music. Favorites include Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Anne Murray. He was fond of the music of Neil Diamond as well. Don served in the US Army during the Korean War as a crypto specialist. He was then a computer programmer for the remainder of his career. Don was a devoted member of St. Simon Church over 50 years as well as the Crestwood Elk’s Lodge for many years. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of over 58 years, JoAnn Dorsey (nee Mayer), his sister Jean Garst (nee Dorsey), children Barb Matern (nee Dorsey), Susan Gilmore (nee Dorsey), Dr. David Dorsey, Kathy Hutton (nee Dorsey) and son in law Dean Hutton. Grandchildren include Valerie Gilmore, Justin Hutton, Noah Gilmore, Brooke Matern and Drew Dorsey. Services: Memorial service/visitation will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at St. Simon Church, 11011 Mueller Rd., St. Louis, MO 63123 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Mass will immediately follow at 11:00 am. Following mass his ashes will be brought to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for a military salute. There will be a luncheon following the service at Jefferson Barracks at St. Simon Church in the lower church hall. Those not able to attend the Jefferson Barracks ceremony are welcome to go right to the hall for the luncheon after mass.
