Donald Lee Byus II

Donald Lee Byus II, of Jacksonville, IL, just 49 years old, passed unexpectedly on October 26, 2021 from a heart condition. The family is deeply saddened by his sudden death. He was born on April 23, 1972, graduated from Jacksonville High School Class of 1990, attended Spoon River College on a golf scholarship, and lived life to the fullest in Scottsdale, AZ.

Don was a partner in the award winning “Best New Restaurant in the East Valley” Da’ Bayou Creole Kitchen, Gilbert, AZ. Prior to opening the restaurant Don was an accomplished professional golf instructor since 1993. He was extremely proud to have worked alongside an impressive list of who’s who among prominent golf professionals. His teaching career started at Nicklaus Flick Golf Schools which opened up opportunities at Boca Raton Resort & Club, Boca Raton, FL, Las Campanas Golf Club, Santa Fe, NM, and Towa Golf Club at Hilton Buffalo Thunder, Santa Fe, NM.

Don expressed his passion about many things. He enjoyed hanging out with family and friends, sharing his opinions, traveling, music, beer and watching sports; especially his beloved Chicago Cubs & Bears. Most who knew him were charmed by his kindness, humor and good-natured demeanor.

Don will be remembered by his son, William Brent; his two sisters, Rhonda Byus-McBride and Ann Byus; two nieces, Sydney McBride and Mary Alex (Robert) McBride Christoffers as well as his extended family and an abundance of friends. We will miss him more than words can say.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Donald L. “Poochie” Byus and Gail Jones Byus.

In keeping with Don’s wishes cremation will take place and no formal services will be held.

    Will ALWAYS remember how much you loved Golf……It was in your blood! YOU witnessed one of my great rounds at the Links in 1989. I still have that scorecard framed….with our pictures! YOU will be missed but NEVER forgotten! Godspeed Don!
